LONGBOW ownership group sets sail on new golf cruise
After acquiring Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, last October, Ryan Thompson, managing partner of Thompson Golf Group, was justifiably proud about taking the reins at one of the state’s best public golf facilities.
“Longbow Golf Club has long been known for its excellent playing surfaces, amazing hospitality, as well as its involvement and advancement in all levels of the game of golf,” he said at the time. “My team and I look forward to continuing these traditions, forging new ones, and welcoming all Longbow Golf Club customers to the Thompson Golf Group. I am also looking forward to building our relationship with Troon and offering our customers all that Troon and Thompson Golf bring to the game.”
Now the company is expanding its golf horizons even further. The Thompson Travel Group, a division of Thompson Golf Group, is offering a European golf cruise in October 2024 called “From the Waterways to the Fairways.” This eight-day, four-country tour will float along the Danube River on the AmaMagna, a luxury ship with room for up to 196 passengers, and include vibrant cultural tours and four rounds of golf. TROON Magazine readers can receive an exclusive offer of $150 in the form of an on-board stateroom credit.
“I did this very trip in March of 2022 with my wife and thought it would be amazing to be able to also play some great golf courses along the way,” Thompson said. “The ship is intimate and luxurious, and I pictured myself there with friends sharing great food and drinks, sightseeing, and talking about the rounds we would have played at some the amazing courses Europe offers. My wife, who is not a golfer, would still be able to come along as there are included tours in each port. On the days that I golf, she will be safe and touring with others from the ship. It truly would be a dream vacation for both of us. I’m sure TROON Magazine readers would enjoy the experience.”
The trip is scheduled to begin on October 13, 2024, in Budapest, with stops in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Austria before concluding in Vilshofen, Germany. Participants will be able to enjoy awe-inspiring architecture, timeless music, breathtaking landscapes, and culinary delights on a curated itinerary while traveling aboard the AmaMagna. Apricot brandy and chocolate tasting in Dürnstein, and an exclusive wine festival in Spitz, are only two of the epicurean experiences passengers will experience.
Vienna, home to a treasure trove of Baroque splendors, including its grand Schönbrunn Palace, will provide a glimpse into bygone grandeur. With plenty of daytime scenic sailing, you’ll be able to enjoy the extraordinary AmaMagna to its fullest, from the fresco dining to spinning with a view.
Plans for golf include rounds on a variety of courses, including one that hosts a DP World Tour tournament and others that have hosted multiple professional tournaments. Also available will be a Golf Concierge Program that includes care and storage of your clubs throughout the trip, private luxury transportation to and from the golf clubs, lunch (including beer and wine), green fee with cart, range use at each course, and a gift bag with golf balls, course guides, and a shoe bag.
Daily shore tours are offered in each port are also included in the package price. Small group guided shore excursions with a variety of choices and activity levels will also be offered.
All-inclusive pricing (airfare not included) starts at $3,499 per two-person cabin
