Classic meets Cool
At The Grand Golf Club, Members Clubhouse Gets New Look
Fairmont Grand Del Mar is situated on 400 acres of pristine coastal canyon just minutes from the Pacific Ocean. At this “classic meets cool” resort, guests can commune with nature on a trail ride through Los Penasquitos Canyon and its stunning bluffs, challenge themselves on the lush fairways of a private 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course, or find true balance at the state-of-the-art spa. Dining is a treat too. At Addison, San Diego’s only Michelin-three-star restaurant, patrons dine on seasonal tasting menus that celebrate Southern California at its very best.
On a stretch of coastline known for exquisite golf — nearby are Torrey Pines Golf Course and Aviara Golf Club — The Grand Golf Club stands apart as one of the very few Tom Fazio designs on the West Coast, and the only one in San Diego County. The course plays astride deep arroyos and across dramatic elevations with remarkable views out to the Pacific Ocean. After 17 satisfying holes, the layout ends with a stunning par 4 that plays over a stream to a waterfall-backed finish.
With all that it has to offer, it’s no wonder that membership at The Club at Grand Del Mar is an experience in the best living, wellness, and leisure in Southern California. Golf Membership at The Club includes priority tee times, member-only events, unlimited access to the practice areas, and member-only spaces in the exclusive golf clubhouse, where recent renovations have made the experience even better.
The resort partnered with design firm Bishop Pass of Los Angeles to support the bespoke design refresh, utilizing lighter and more modern touches, while still maintaining the opulence of the revered Fairmont Grand Del Mar.
The clubhouse refresh also included a variety of updates, from upholstered furniture in luxurious textures and warm colors, pendants and sconces with brass and Venetian glass, window and wall treatments with softer and lighter fabrics, and custom-patterned carpeting. The Ladies Lounge renovation included the addition of an indoor-outdoor bar, installation of a grand infrared sauna with an illuminated Himalayan salt wall in the wet facilities. An expansion of the Men’s Lounge included additional locker space. The club’s reimagined outdoor space now features more patio seating and umbrellas, offering a flexible, transitional space for dining and club events.
“We are thrilled to bring the next chapter of The Club to both our loyal members and future members to come. Members can now enjoy new bespoke amenities, curated events, exclusive offerings, and more,” shared Nenad Praporski, General Manager at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. ▪
