Black is the New Green

Congratulations to the Troon team at Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah, for hosting the PGA TOUR’s inaugural Black Desert Championship in spectacular fashion! Won by rookie Matt McCarty, the event marked the first time in 60 years that the PGA Tour has played in Utah, with this tournament scheduled to return to Black Desert Resort through 2027. The course is the final 18-hole design effort of the late Tom Weiskopf who, with colleague Phil Smith, created a magnificent layout that blends strategic challenge with a surreal lava-laced landscape. Black Desert also has a five-year agreement to host an LPGA event beginning in spring 2005.
